Background
The Pacific Regional Policing Initiative (PRPI), funding by the Australian and New Zealand Governments and administered by SAGRIC Interntation Pty Ltd operates within all Forum Island Countries:
- Cook Islands
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- Marshall Islands
- Nauru
- Niue
- Palau
- Papua New Guinea
- Samoa
- Solomon Islands
- Tonga
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu
The purpose of the PRPI Program is to contribute to improved effectiveness of policing in Forum Island Countries to enable them to contribute more comprehensively to regional security and national economic, social and political stability.
Our Role
The PRPI approached VRSpace with a request to develop an Incident Management Training System suitable for training police officers of the region in incident command/management. The resultant training system includes a generic VR representation of a Pacific Island town and surrounding area.
Included in the model is a Wharf, CBD, Petrol storage facility - close to the CBD, a power station, a prison, and a small airfield. The VR model covers approximately 7.5km by 5.5km including a mountainouse region and river. Trainees are required to manage incidents by requesting appropriate resources - eg. additional police vehicles and personnel, fire brigade, ambulance and/or other appropriate resources for their region. As these resources are requested they will appear in the model at the appropriate locations.
This system can be used for one on one or group training systems.
