Normanby Pedestrian Cylce Link

Client: Queensland Transport
Project: Real-time visualisation for community consultation.

Aerial view from VR Model of the Proposed Link
Background
Queensland Transport, in conjunction with engineering consultancy firm ARUP, conducted a feasibility study to investigate pedestrian and cycle route options through the Normanby Fiveways to Roma Street. The study was completed in March 2005.
The aim of the Normanby Pedestrian Cycle Link project is to improve the safety and effectiveness of pedestrian and cyclist connectivity in the following locations.
- Between the existing cycleway on the western side of Brisbane Grammar School and Roma Street Parklands.
- Between the proposed Normanby Busway Station plaza and Roma Street Parkland.
- From the existing footpaths and cycleways surrounding the Normanby Fiveways to enhance cycle opportunities, where practicable.
Our Role
VRSpace has been assisting Queensland Transport with the visualisation of this proposed link. The VR model created by VRSpace has been used to communicate the design intent to stakeholders and the community adjacent to the proposed development. The model has been developed prior to detail design and is a useful tool for evaluating the proposed solution and identifying factors of the design that may require further re-design.
